Crafting With Christina Design Team Call

Happy Easter All!!!   Hope everyone had a plesant one and was able to spend time with family rememebering the true meaning of Easter.
A couple days a go Cristina from http://www.craftingwithcristina.com/  announced she was looking for design team members.  I have decided to send her my info for consideration.  We are to make a project for her design team entry.  Well I had a project that I have wanted to make for a while and decided this was as good as time as any.   So here is a gift I am going to give my Friend Deanna. Her son Ty is about a year older than my son, but also in the Navy.  When she postd this picture a while back I knew I would want to make something with it.  So I made a Wall Hanging.

I started out with a wood plaque.  I sprayed it with my Coco Bean Copper Starburts Stain from Lindys Stamp Gang.    I dried this with my heat tool and then modge podged.   Now I will tell you that the modge podge did pick up some of the lindy color.  Not sure if I did not dry enough or this just happens.   Didn’t really affect anything since I was sealing with nothing else on it at this time.
I placed my ribbon down and modge podged it, it did cause it to get darker.
I tore my picture around what I wanted and used my Vintage Photo distress stain to edge the picture.   I cut my anchor and My Hero plaque from Cricut, Stand and Salute Cartridge.  ( A must have for any military mom!)   I colored the image Private Peter from Digital Delights. http://www.digitaldelightsbyloubyloo.com/

I modge podged all these pieces down on the back of each one,   then layered modge podge over the top of everything.   I let dry for almost an hour and layered on another coat.    I then added the little Navy Seal from some sticker embelishments I have.

I am use to blinging things up, but didn’t think it would go, so the Lindys was a nice substitute because it is shinny.

Now on to part 2.   I had to make a card to go along with the gift.   So here is my card.

This card measures 5 x 7,  I am using an image from The Greeting Farm,  Creepin Crew. She is colored with my copic markers. The sentiment is from Happy Hello from Hero Arts.   All the paper is stuff I have in my scraps, so not sure who it is from.  The blue flower was coordinations paper that I embossed from a sizzix texture plate, then sanded.   The ribbon and the flowers were misted with some gimmer mist.  The flowers and leaves are from I am Roses.  Not sure  you can tell but the flowers are were pressed in versa mark and then I poured a mixture I have of perfect green pearls, clear embossing powder and fine glitter.  Then I took the heat tool to it.  It made it very glittery and shinny.   Couldn’t bling up the plaque. but I could the card.  I used a friskars scallop punch for my papers.

I hope you have all lasted thru this with me.   I don’t do videos but will try to give more details from now on, on how I did my projects.   I have learned so much from others, that maybe I could show something that could spark an idea for someone else.

Well I am sure my friend Deanna will love her gift,  I hope Christina likes my entry for her design team.   Thanks All!
